Mr. iFixit, tear down that iPad Pro
To paraphrase those Geico commercials that seem to run incessantly during my shows: if you’re iFixit, you tear down Apple devices—that’s what you do. And since there’s a brand new giant iPad, well, you can guess the result.
Giant batteries are no surprise, but there’s an awful lot of room devoted to the speakers in the iPad Pro. iFixit estimates that Apple could probably eke out 50 percent more juice if it used the speaker space for batteries—but then we wouldn’t have those cool self-balancing four-way speakers.
Not too much else to learn here, other than that the new Smart Connector for the Smart Keyboard is basically impossible to fix, but as iFixit points out, with no moving parts it’s unlikely to fail in the first place.
