Next Avengers films to be shot entirely in IMAX
Wow. As if Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 weren’t going to be big enough, now they’re going to be literally huge:
“[Directors Anthony and Joe Russo] are going to spend the next 15 months or so designing the making of the ‘Avengers’ films with these cameras in mind,” said Greg Foster, Imax Entertainment CEO. “They’re not looking at this a week before they start filming or only focusing on an important section of the film. This is something that’s never happened before.”
The key here is that the camera they’re using to shoot the movie is digital, not film–IMAX film cameras are gargantuan, and often limit the kind of shots you can get; that’s why they generally only get used for specific sequences, as in the latter two Christopher Nolan Batman movies and the upcoming Episode VII.
Anyway, I guess now they have plenty of room to jam in all those extra characters. rimshot
